i was delighted beyond words to have the privilege not only to plan but to host my sweet friend’s 30th birthday celebration. beginning with a color scheme of black and white the party planning began. i knew i wanted the party to be girly and filled with whimsical and colorful touches. the invitation was designed using “the dress” and from there the inspiration began to come to life!
several weeks prior to Stephanie’s party i had the amazing opportunity to meet Renee from Bee’s Knees Creative during the first meeting of the Sunshine State Dreamers into Doers in Orlando. i could hardly wait to send her the invitation so that she could create the perfect cookie favors. they were divine. not only were they beautiful and exactly what i had imagined, but so delicious!
with the invitations mailed and the party favors in good hands, i began to pull the details together. i had an idea. wouldn’t it be fun to paint our own wine glasses? it seemed the perfect party activity. pour a few glasses of wine, pull out the paint brushes and paint and and in moments the creativity began.
the food the girls enjoyed at the party was not only delicious but oh so pretty. on the menu was savory crescent chicken squares, brie cheese with raspberry jam and butter crackers, tomato and garlic bruschetta, spinach and strawberry salad with poppy seed dressing, strawberry and lemon curd parfaits, and chocolate cake balls topped with pink candies and white sprinkles. the table spread was gorgeous and colorful. i especially loved the little parfaits layered with delicious ingredients and perfectly served with the cutest little spoons tied with a ribbon. wait…i can’t forget the buttery crackers served in pink and white polka dot cupcake wrappers from Donna Hay. what a cute way to add a bit of color and “pop” to the table.
i wish that the pictures had truly captured the decorations. tissue paper pom poms hung around the room, beautiful roses adorned the table and favors were displayed in black and white polka dot bags from Sweet Lulu Designs. i so enjoyed all the details. i did take a picture of the sign that hangs in our dining room stating a much needed phrase for me that night. keep calm and carry on. i will admit that in the mad rush to finish the final touches and in my attempt to make the party PERFECT i had almost forgotten to KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON.
i do love all the little details. it is in those that i seem to thrive. coordinating food “labels”, the thank you stickers on the polka dot bags and the celebrate today wine glasses made the party feel “complete”. but details aside, at the end of the night i was happy to honor and celebrate my friend. happy birthday steph! i am so happy that you are a part of my life.
p.s. the highlight of my evening was when one of the guests discovered the i was lauren mckinsey. yes dana, “shut the front door”….i am lauren mckinsey!
